Concierge Medicine for Norwell, Cohasset, and Braintree Residents: What's Actually Nearby

South Shore resident on a coastal walk near Cohasset, where concierge primary care is now available locally

Search "concierge doctor near me" from Norwell or Cohasset and you'll get Boston. That's a quirk of who has the bigger digital footprint, not a map. The closest option is a short drive down the road in Hingham.

If you've searched "concierge doctor Norwell" or "concierge physician Cohasset" and come up with practices in Boston, Newton, or Providence, you may have assumed there wasn't a closer option. There is. Concierge Medicine of the South Shore sits in Hingham, a short drive from Norwell, Cohasset, and Braintree, and this post is meant to answer the question directly: what's actually nearby, and what does it look like to get care here instead of making the drive into the city.

I'm Dr. Maria Clarinda Buencamino-Francisco, known to my patients as Dr. B. I'm a board-certified internal medicine physician with additional certifications in menopause care (MSCP) and bone densitometry (CCD), practicing whole-person concierge primary care for adults, men and women both, at my Hingham practice. This post covers what residents of Norwell, Cohasset, and Braintree specifically should know about proximity, access, and what a concierge visit here actually involves.

Why This Question Comes Up So Often

Search engines tend to surface large, brand-name concierge practices headquartered in Boston or its immediate suburbs, because those practices have more digital footprint. That doesn't mean they're the closest option, and for residents of Norwell, Cohasset, and Braintree, they usually aren't. A locally based, physician-led practice in Hingham is often the nearer choice, it just hasn't been easy to find in a search results page dominated by larger institutional names.

Norwell: A Neighboring Town, Not a Different Market

Norwell borders Hingham directly. For a Norwell resident, the drive to my office at 25 Recreation Park Drive is typically comparable to, or shorter than, a trip to a South Shore Plaza area urgent care or a specialist visit in Boston. A few things Norwell patients should know:

  • You don't need to be a Hingham resident to establish care here. My patient panel already includes South Shore residents from multiple surrounding towns.

  • Same-day and next-day access, a core feature of the concierge model, matters more, not less, the farther a patient lives from a walk-in option. Norwell residents dealing with a same-week concern benefit from that access without an additional drive into Boston.

  • If whole-person primary care, plus the added credentialed strength in bone health and menopause care, is what you've been looking for locally, this is that option.

Cohasset: Coastal, Close, and Currently Underserved

Cohasset is one of the towns where search data shows real, consistent interest in concierge care with essentially no local option surfacing. Coastal towns like Cohasset often have an older median age and a higher rate of retirees and longtime residents, both of which tend to align with the patient profile who benefits most from concierge primary care: someone managing several ongoing health concerns who wants one physician coordinating all of them.

Cohasset residents considering a change from a standard PCP relationship should know:

  1. The drive from Cohasset to Hingham is short, generally faster than a trip into Boston proper, particularly during commuter traffic hours.

  2. A concierge model resolves a specific frustration common among longtime patients of larger health systems: being shuffled between different providers within the same practice depending on availability. At a solo concierge practice, you see the same physician, consistently.

  3. Preventive priorities that matter more with age, like bone density screening, benefit from a physician who treats that as a standing focus rather than an occasional order. My CCD certification supports exactly that kind of ongoing, credentialed attention to bone health.

Braintree: Closer Than the Boston Options in Your Search Results

Braintree sits at the northern edge of the South Shore, close enough to Boston that many residents default to searching there first. But Braintree to Hingham is a straightforward, short drive, generally comparable to a trip up Route 3 into the city, and often faster outside of peak commute windows.

For Braintree residents, a few points worth knowing:

  • Braintree has a strong working-age population commuting into Boston daily, which is precisely the group that benefits most from direct physician access outside standard 9-to-5 office hours, since a traditional practice's hours often conflict with a commuter's schedule.

  • Men's preventive health is a growing focus of this practice, and Braintree's demographic mix includes exactly the kind of midlife, working professional male patient who tends to defer preventive care the longest. I've written specifically about why South Shore men delay preventive care and what it costs them.

  • A short, predictable commute to a concierge appointment is a meaningfully different experience than adding a Boston medical district visit onto an already long commute day.

What a Concierge Visit Actually Involves

For residents unfamiliar with the model itself, here's the practical version, not the marketing version:

  1. Visits run considerably longer than the standard 15-minute primary care appointment, giving time to actually address more than one concern per visit.

  2. You have direct access to me, not a rotating on-call provider or a nurse triage line, for questions that come up between visits.

  3. Preventive screening and early detection are built into the standing care plan rather than addressed reactively. My post on essential health screenings by age and lifestyle covers what that looks like across different life stages.

  4. Care coordination across specialists happens through one point of contact, me, rather than falling back on the patient to manage referrals and follow-up.

"The patients who drive the farthest to see me are usually the ones who've already tried the closer, larger option and found it wasn't actually closer in any way that mattered, not in time, not in attention, and not in follow-through," Dr. B said. "Proximity is only half of what 'accessible care' means. The other half is whether your doctor actually has room for you."

Why the Model Itself Solves a Bigger Problem

The interest we see from Norwell, Cohasset, and Braintree isn't happening in isolation. It reflects a national shortage in primary care access. A McKinsey & Company analysis, cited in industry market research, estimated a shortage of up to 64,000 primary care physicians in the United States by the end of 2024, growing to as many as 86,000 by 2036. Separately, an AMN Healthcare survey of physician appointment wait times found the average wait for a new patient primary care appointment across major metropolitan areas reached 31 days as of 2025, nearly 19 percent longer than in 2022.

That national shortage is exactly why concierge medicine has grown steadily, with an estimated 12,000 physicians nationally now practicing under some form of the model, according to trade publication Concierge Medicine Today. For residents of towns adjacent to a smaller, well-established practice like this one, that means a workable local alternative to a strained system, not a longer drive to find one.

A Note on Availability

Concierge Medicine of the South Shore is currently at capacity on both active membership tiers, Concierge Adult and Young Adult, and is accepting new patients through a waitlist. I mention this directly because I'd rather be transparent about current availability than have a Norwell, Cohasset, or Braintree resident assume space is open when it is limited. Joining the waitlist is still the right first step if this model fits what you're looking for.

Getting Started From Any of These Towns

If you're in Norwell, Cohasset, Braintree, or anywhere else on the South Shore and have been searching for a concierge option assuming you'd need to go into Boston, that assumption is worth revisiting. I've also written more generally about why South Shore patients are choosing concierge primary care and what preventive medicine really means in a model like this, both useful background before reaching out.
